Production
Core Steel:
Quality transformers begin with quality steel, and Delta/ZTR utilizes top quality steel that we inspect closely throughout the manufacturing process—with a particular emphasis on electromagnetic and geometric parameters. Automated production lines cut the steel with extreme precision, allowing precise shaping of laminations.
Specialized Windings:
Delta/ZTR takes particular care with windings. Our large-power transformers utilize both continuous and interlaced helical windings; specialized manufacturing processes ensure axial winding stabilization.
Virtually all of our large-power transformers’ insulation parts are produced in-house, including winding end insulation, bars, rings, rods, gaskets, insulating plates, cylinders, and spacers. We also have the machinery for laying out, cutting, stamping, pressing, gluing and drying pressboard insulation parts.
In addition, Delta/ZTR produces ancillary components for transformers, such as tap changers, bushings, shutoff and safety valves.
Thermo-Vacuum:
We employ two different thermo-vacuum large-power methods:
- Deep Thermo-Vacuum Treatment—This process is carried out at maximum temperatures of 115° C inside the oven and a residual pressure of 0.5 mbar (or lower).
- Vapor Phase Treatment—This process is completely automated and done in petroleum vapors with a Micafil device.
A key part of our insulation process is a thermo-vacuum treatment that serves to:
- Remove water from the insulation to a residual moisture content level of less
than 0.1%;
- De-gas and impregnate the insulation
with transformer oil;
- Dry and filter the transformer oil.
The net result of our quality steel, specialized windings, thermo-vacuum, and in-house component production is the assurance that every part of a Delta/ZTR unit is crafted to the most exacting standards.
