January 8, 2018 – As freezing temperatures swept through the south earlier this year, AEP Texas Inc. used Delta Star’s mobile substation to meet increased demand for power. On New Year’s Day, roughly 5,900 AEP Texas customers were without power. While the crew worked to restore power lines, AEP deployed Delta Star’s trailer-mounted mobile substation to meet the increasing demand. Once the mobile was energized, capacity was increased which allowed restoration of the service to proceed.
As AEP showed, Delta Star mobile transformers and mobile substations provide the capabilities to quickly restore electrical service following an outage caused by a storm or other disaster, provide temporary new service while permanent facilities are being constructed and replace existing equipment during regularly scheduled maintenance.
