Delta Star Hosts Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Quebec Facility

Jason Greene, President and CEO of Delta Star, Inc., and Monsieur Alain Laplante, Mayor of the City of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, partake in ribbon cutting.

(LYNCHBURG, Va., Dec. 12, 2019) – Delta Star, Inc. announced the grand opening of a newly expanded, state-of-the-art winding room at Delta Star North located Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, Quebec, Canada. The expansion will provide updated technology and equipment to increase production at the plant by approximately 50 percent.

“The completed renovations at Delta Star North will provide alignment with all three of our facilities, giving our customers and Delta Star more flexibility,” said Jason Greene, Delta Star’s President and CEO. “Continual improvement is vital for Delta Star as we strive towards stronger market leadership in the power transformer and mobile substation industry.”

To celebrate the grand opening of the state-of-the-art winding room, Delta Star held a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony with dignitaries, customers, suppliers and media personalities. “We are so thankful for everyone who has been a part of this process. The completion of this project is a result of tremendous teamwork by individuals both within and outside of Delta Star. Thank you to the many people who have been with us every step of the way during this process,” said Heather Maddox, Director of Marketing for Delta Star.

The expansion will provide alignment with all three of Delta Star’s facilities; Lynchburg, San Carlos, and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu, ultimately providing customers and Delta Star, as a whole, more flexibility. That flexibility will, in turn, allow Delta Star to better serve customers. “The timing for such a renovation couldn’t have happened soon enough. This expansion here in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu will further assist Delta Star in addressing the growing demand for power transformers and mobile substations throughout North America,” said Maddox.

The expansion served as a tangible reminder of Delta Star’s Quality Policy. An unwavering commitment to total customer satisfaction through teamwork, individual job excellence and continual improvement. “This expansion came to fruition through the tireless efforts of many individuals throughout our organization and outside partners. Reaching a major milestone such as this can only be achieved through incredible teamwork,” said Greene.

Ray Glover, Chief Operations Officer for Delta Star recognized several individuals who contributed significantly to the leadership and direction of the project.

“I would like to thank several individuals that have made this expansion possible for their vision and work to make this expansion a reality,” said Glover. He recognized Jason Greene for his vision as to what the employees at the facility could produce if given the space and the tools. Michael McDaniel, Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager, who was tasked with managing the project. Alix Némorin, General Manager of the facility, who was a steady hand in maintaining current production during this expansion. David Lafreniere, who designed the layout for this expansion and Sylvain Boutin, who was instrumental in maintaining existing infrastructure while the construction was on-going.

“The new winding room will allow standardization between products produced at all three facilities,” said Michael McDaniel, Delta Star’s Corporate Environmental Health and Safety Manager. “This will improve the capability of building larger and more complex units.”

There was $2 million invested in the purchase of new equipment allowing the expansion to provide 22 jobs to the workforce to support families and the community of Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu. “Today’s event marks the completion of the expansion project, an end in sorts,” said Alix Némorin, General Manager of Delta Star North. “It most importantly opens up the exciting possibilities for future development and growth, and marks the beginning of a new, more efficient and cost competitive era for this factory, Delta Star North.”

Delta Star acquired the transformer factory in Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu in August of 2015. The plant provided Delta Star’s customers with a third location to build power transformers, while increasing not only Delta Star’s market presence, but also its transformer capability.
