Delta Star Wins Central Virginia Welding Wars

(Lynchburg, Va. — May 2, 2025) — Delta Star, a leading manufacturer of power transformers and mobile substations, won the 2025 Central Virginia Welding Wars hosted by the Lynchburg Regional Business Alliance.

Delta Iron Works (DIW) employee Daniel Travis earned first place during the 2025 competition, an event aimed at bringing together the area’s most skilled welders from high school, collegiate, and professional levels.

Hosted on the campus of Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) in Lynchburg, the annual event promotes welding as a critical and rewarding career path. Participants competed in timed weld challenges judged on quality, precision, and craftsmanship. The event also included vendor booths, career exploration stations, and interactive welding simulators for students and attendees.

Travis, a full-time welder at Delta Star’s metal fabrication facility, outperformed competitors in the professional division, earning top marks for his technique and consistency under pressure.
