Delta Star to Expand Operations in Virginia

(LYNCHBURG, Va., May 3, 2023) – Delta Star today announced plans to invest more than $30 million in the expansion of their corporate headquarters and transformer manufacturing facility in Lynchburg, Virginia to meet growing power industry demands.

The planned expansion will add 149 new jobs to the Lynchburg region.

“Delta Star has been a valuable and reliable employer in the City of Lynchburg for more than 60 years, and the company has grown to become the largest U.S.-owned medium transformer producer in the country,” said Governor Glenn Youngkin. “Manufacturing is a major economic driver across the Commonwealth, and we are proud that this industry leader’s products are not only ‘Made in America’, they are also ‘Made in Virginia’. We congratulate Delta Star on decades of success in the Commonwealth.”

Delta Star’s Lynchburg manufacturing facility first opened its doors in 1961 and currently operates out of 300,000 square feet, employs more than 400 employees, and is the largest of three manufacturing facilities (Lynchburg, San Carlos, and Saint-Jean-sur-Richelieu). The expansion involves 80,000 square feet of additional manufacturing space to support mobile and power transformer operations to meet the increased demand of a growing and vital sector of the economy.
